What are dental fillings for?
With our filling and restoration procedures, we can repair and treat your tooth fractures and/or damaged teeth by tooth decay. Our dental restoration procedures treat cavities (decay) with materials that are designed to help strengthen your teeth and enhance your appearance.
Why do I need to have a dental filling?
When tooth decay causes a hole to form on your tooth surface, you will need a filling. The hole is called a cavity. Without a filling, cavities may worsen or lead to more severe problems, such as bone loss. An untreated cavity may also lead to an abscess. You might also need a filling if a tooth has cracked or has been damaged. A bonded filling is appropriate when the cavity is small and the area is not exposed to a lot of force in the mouth. If you have old amalgam (silver) restorations and are not happy with them or may have concerns about them, ask us about replacing them with porcelain or tooth-coloured resin.
If the cavity to be filled is large, or if it is on a molar and you grind your teeth, a bonded filling may not be your best option. During your appointment, our dentists will examine your tooth and recommend what filling is best for your smile. To help make you comfortable during your dental fillings and/or restoration treatments, we provide local anesthetic.
Fill out the form and we will contact you during our working hours. Urgent dental care will be provided usually the same day.
